My name is Jiawa Liu and for the last ten years, I've lived in Paris, where I work as a creative director, fashion editor and photographer.
I wrote this book, to recreate for you my 10 year love story with Paris: beginning as a wide eyed traveller, in awe of the most iconic, the most monumental vision of Paris, then, day by day getting to know the city in all its complex beauty and becoming 'Parisian'.
This is Paris through the eyes of someone who has long become a local but has never lost that sense of wonder of a visitor.
I have structured this book around seven complete day itineraries. Each one represents a precious stage in that journey, from the city’s most iconic monuments and cinematic experiences to its inner neighbourhood rhythms, everyday rituals, vintage culture, artisans, old and new, and slower, hidden pleasures.
Over two years, I photographed every corner of Paris across its neighbourhoods and through every season, taking more than three thousand images. More than 1,500 of those photographs illustrate this book and its 175 addresses. Beyond a visual presentation of the addresses and itineraries, I wanted these images to transport you to the heart of the city, through its light and contrasts, its sublime views and tiny moments.

A seven days journey to fall in love with Paris:
Day 1 — The Big Sights
Day 2 — Cinematic Paris
Day 3 — Become Parisian (For the Camera)
Day 4 — Become Parisian (When No-One's Watching)
Day 5 — Day of Vintage
Day 6 — Day of Artisans
Day 7 — Day in the Sun
Each itinerary also includes additional addresses, so you can adapt the day and create your own version of the journey.
Everything I wanted you to know before arriving in Paris
Before the itineraries begin, I included a substantial practical introduction to help you understand the city and plan your trip with confidence.
Inside, you’ll find:
— an introduction to Paris, its neighbourhoods and arrondissements
— advice on when to visit and what to expect through the seasons
— a curated hotel guide
— packing advice and what to wear
— practical information on prices and budgeting
— guidance on getting around Paris
— etiquette and the unwritten rules of Parisian life
— maps and route guidance
— neighbourhood information throughout
— a guide to Paris museums
— a Paris restaurant cheat sheet
— fashion, design and cultural recommendations
I wanted the book to be genuinely useful before and during a trip, but also beautiful and rich enough to keep afterwards — something to return to whenever Paris begins calling again.
